Tap water is 100% safe to drink! The water has a slightly mineral flavour because it’s filtered well water, called “soft water”. Additionally, a filtered water jug is provided in the fridge which makes the taste more neutral, but is not needed.
Hot water takes a minute or two of running in kitchen to warm up, shower and bathroom sink hot water is faster to heat up
The water tank in the bathroom closet refills once a day around 2-3pm, it will make some audible/somewhat loud "water rushing" sounds for a few minutes, don’t be alarmed this is normal
keep showers short with groups to avoid running out of hot water!
-
Couch throws and extra bed blankets are located in cupboard in kitchen island, closest to the living room or in the master bedroom chest of drawers
Please only use the amount of beds needed to avoid extra cleaning for our team
-
Extra towels are located on cupboard in kitchen island, closest to the living room side
Try to only use one large towel per person to limit laundry, face towels are in the straw box beside the bathroom sink
Robes are provided also
-
To maintain extra warmth in the cabin, we two HVAC units are mounted on the walls, with one located above the mirror in the living room and the other in the bedroom
use the white remote located by the front door to control the HVAC units.
Point the remote at each unit individually from a few feet away to adjust the temperature.
After adjusting the temperature, allow a few minutes for the unit to respond. Wait until you feel warm air blowing from the unit to confirm the adjustment has taken effect.
for best results, use the gas fireplace in the living room and the heater in the bedroom.
These are also AC units for the summer! Click to “cool” setting
-
The fireplace / gas stove is on and warming the space already, should you wish to adjust the temperature, use small black remote with the name “JOTUL” mounted by the front door
The middle (bigger) number shows the desired temperature, the top number is the current temperature of the room
You can adjust your desired temperature by clicking the middle button up and down
The flames will only ignite when the desired temperature is higher than the current room temperature
turn off white living room heater to rely only on gas stove (keep bedroom on)
do not turn off gas with handle at back or on the stove itself or adjust settings on the bottom of the unit
-
Overhead lights are beside the front door to the left. Please aim to keep all lights off when you leave, for the sake of mother nature
We recommend using the lamps in the corners of the room to create a vibe - the overhead lights are great for cooking and cleaning, you can also control theses lights intensity with the dimmer option. Dimmer on the mood light is a smaller silver button on the bottom right
We have candles provided only in the designated holders, please be careful with supervision and do not remove them from holders
to use overhead fan (recommended after cooking to clear the air) indicated switch is beside lights, the speed adjustment "craftmade" panel does not work
for the outdoor string lights: outside on the porch directly to the left of the sliding door - there is a outlet the dangling plugs can be plugged into, this turns on all the lights. Leave on at night if needed to guide your path to and from the bunkie
-
The loft bedrooms in the main cabin and the Bunkie are both accessed by ladders, to use pulling slowly but firmly away from the wall, the wheels on bottom will roll to the proper angle - push to put away when not in use for more space
Lofts are NOT suitable for children due to lack of railings
-

Mill Pond Cabin loves four legged guests! There are pet food and water bowls in the cupboard above the fridge if they’re not out already
One large dog bed is provided
Please bring an extra dog blanket if your pet is used to being on the couch - to keep the furniture clean after outdoor adventures
Please keep track of your animals, our neighbors have pet dogs and we want to respect their privacy from your adventurous pets
Amenities
-
keep ceiling fan on at all times for ventilation and to circulate cool air from outside and maintain warmth from space heater

set heater to high to heat up initially, then turn down to low to maintain heat over night
keep clothing and other items away from heater

Turn on sauna ONE HOUR before you want to use it, so it can heat up fully
Turn on sauna by pressing round black button twice, this will display the current temperature, and the temperature it will heat up to in the top right corner
Turn dial to adjust temperature, sauna should be set between 180-190
When “heat” symbol is above the larger number; the sauna is warming. When this symbol is absent, it is off
Use the switches covered by plastic dome to turn on in-sauna bench lighting + porch overhead light
Fill the small bucket inside sauna with fresh water from Kitchen tap
Once sauna has reached desired temperature - enter for your first cycle - follow cycle guide , please wear bathing suit in sauna
Enter and exit sauna swiftly to maintain temperature, pull door closed behind you firmly
When pouring water on hot rocks, please do so one spoonful at a time. Adding water to the rocks increases the heat immediately, so please use caution. We recommend 1-3 spoonfuls each time the door is opened! Keep hand at end of ladle handle and do not let hands linger directly over rocks, as steam will rise up immediately and can cause burns. This process should be done by adults only. Pour water on the outer edges of the rock cage, not the center. Do not touch rocks!
When adding essential oils, please put the oils in the bucket of water to be ladled in, not directly dripped on the rocks
Turn off sauna when finished by pressing black dial button again once, the “heat” symbol above the number should be gone
Close door after exiting and turn off sauna by again clicking exterior dial. Click once to power off, the wavy ““heat” symbol should be absent
